iRacing Announces Subscription Price Increase: What You Need to Know

Earlier today iRacing announced that membership prices will be going up starting August 18, 2026. This marks only the second subscription price increase in the service’s nearly 20-year history. The silver lining here is that this hike only affects subscription costs, while individual car and track prices are staying exactly where they are.

The New Subscription Prices

Starting August 18, 2026, iRacing subscriptions will adjust to the following rates:

  • 1 month: $14.75 (up from $13.00)
  • 3 months: $37.50 (up from $33.00)
  • 12 months: $124.50 (up from $110.00)
  • 24 months: $222.50 (up from $199.00)

(Note: Steam regional pricing will rise by a similar margin).

How to lock in current rates: If you are already an active user, you can renew early to lock in today’s rates. Because early renewals stack onto the end of your current active period rather than replacing it, this is a great way to delay the price hike. New members can also take advantage of the current pricing if they sign up before August 18. Just remember to check your account settings, because any accounts set to auto-renew after August 18 will automatically be charged the new rate.

To contextualize the increase, iRacing noted that the base subscription delivers much more value today than it did during the last price bump, with the included package now boasting over 30 cars and more than 25 tracks. They also pointed to heavy ongoing investments in the sim, such as the ongoing development of a new graphics engine and the highly anticipated single-player Career Mode.

The Laguna Seca Context

This pricing update arrives just weeks after the community debate surrounding the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca rescan.

As part of the 2026 Season 3 build, iRacing released a long awaited, high-fidelity rescan of the track using their latest tech. We’ve been waiting for the update for a long time as the original Laguna Seca scan has been a staple of the sim since iRacing launched in 2008.

However, the rollout was handled differently than in the past. iRacing shipped the new scan as a standalone, separate track item. Racers who purchased Laguna Seca as paid content after it left the base package in September 2025 received the new scan for free. But for those of us whose accounts predate that change and had the track included for free, the new scan requires a separate purchase.

This was a notable shift for the service, as track upgrades have historically been free for members who already had access to the content.

The community reaction has been understandably mixed. Many longtime members felt the move was a step backward for user goodwill, while others defended iRacing’s decision, pointing out the immense development resources required to build modern tracks and the reality of rising real-world licensing fees.

What This Means for the Community

In dollar terms, the subscription increase is relatively modest, an extra $14.50 a year for a 12-month plan. However, the timing compounds two back-to-back decisions that shift slightly more cost onto existing members.

Whether you agree with the recent changes or understand the rising costs of keeping the sim cutting-edge, it’s a good time to look at your account. If you plan on racing through the rest of the year, definitely consider grabbing your renewal before August 18 to keep your current pricing intact.
